St Mary's Church – Vacancies

St Mary's Church wishes to appoint suitable people to fill the roles of Worship Leader and Lead Organist in the church, and welcomes applicants. Since the appointments are part time it would be possible for a suitable person to take on more than one role.

For further information about these opportunities to serve God, please contact the Rector (01672 514357) or the church office (01672 512357); or E-mail using the links on the Clergy-Staff page of this website.

Two music appointments

St Mary's are looking to appoint a paid (part time) worship leader /musical director to perhaps ‘raise our game' a little in the contemporary music sphere. This would be a new position designed for someone with a good knowledge of contemporary music.

We are also looking to appoint a new paid (part time) Lead Organist .

Working closely with the Rector and other service leaders, the new person(s) would enrich and enliven our worship by encouraging and growing the talents within our existing team of musicians and singers.

At St Mary's we hold morning services at 10 am (congregation of about 100, first Sunday informal service), and a smaller 5:30 pm informal worship service. Funerals and weddings are also a regular feature of St Mary's Church for which an organist is required.

We have an enthusiastic 4-part choir of 12 to 18 people who lead the singing at the three formal (normally communion) Sunday services per month. The choir has a very varied repertoire, both traditional and contemporary, and sings anthems most weeks. There are three voluntary organists available within the congregation.

We also have an instrumental group which plays about twice a month, in particular at our monthly all-age service when the choir is ‘off-duty'. For these services we call upon several vocalists, pianists, guitarists and flautists plus a few other instrumentalists. A number of services incorporate both traditional organ- or choir-led hymns and contemporary music-group-led songs into our worship.

We look to a musician, generally a pianist but sometimes guitarist, to lead our 5:30 pm services.

Remuneration : RSCM rates would apply.
