St Mary's Day of Prayer for 2016 took place on Saturday 23 January 2016.

A Rule of Life

St Mary's started 'A Rule of Life' in September 2012 for 12 months. After September 2013, following consultation and feedback from the congregation, we held a Day of Prayer in St Mary's on Saturday 25 January 2014, a Week of Guided Prayer during Lent and a Quiet Space every Wednesday during Lent and Holy Week over the lunch time break in St Mary's.

Andrew S-K preached about the Rule of Life on Sunday 28 September 2014 at the 10am service you can listen to his sermon by clicking here. Following on from this Debbie Ryman facilitated a discussion about the sermon and also people's thoughts and experiences about the Rule of Life.

St Mary's Church: Rule of Life

As part of my belonging to St Mary’s, Marlborough and our shared endeavour of Making Jesus Known, I commit myself to live this year as a disciple of Jesus Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit, to the glory of God the Father.

 I promise to:

· Pray daily

· Read the Bible regularly

· Attend public worship faithfully

This will allow me to:

· Follow Jesus’ example.

· Give and forgive as generously as God has given to and forgiven me.

A Prayer to start the day

Dear Lord thank you for this new day.

Help me to commit myself to you and know your loving presence in all that I do and with all those I meet.

Amen

A Prayer at the end of the day

Thank you for all the good things that I have received today

and especially the people I met.

I am sorry Lord for all the times I may have failed you today.

Please keep me safe this night.

Amen
